"I'll tear their hearts out."

"Kortav is the product of vile magicks - the combination of several animals with human hosts. Kortav was a "success," being to rend in twain the bars of his cage, shred his creator, and escape into the swamp. His body is a weapon of deadly potency, while his mind is of questionable stability - a convenient mix for one who enjoys nothing more than wetting his claws with blood."

Hero Highlight

Kortav is a great fighter with a high damage output and a great set of skills.  His stun duration is one of the longest of all heroes, and his constant ability to become invisible can truly frustrate the opposing team.  His ultimate also provides a great HP regeneration, and if you are able to escape, you will always be at 30% HP.  I would reccommend using Kortav as a secondary carry, for Rift take the jungle, and on Border, take the top or bottom farm depending on your team composition.

Hero Skills

Skill 1

Predator

Cost: 70 MP
Cooldown: 16/14/12/10 sec
Range: 10 m

Kortav disappears from sight and reappears behind his selected target, becoming invisible and gaining 30% increased movement speed for 2 seconds, evading all targeted abilities in the process, (bar Debronee's Intensity) and leaving a decoy where he was previously. Kortav's next basic attack within 10 seconds after using Predator deals 60/90/120/150 (+50% Physical Attack) bonus damage, stacking with the triggering attack.

Kortav's decoy copies his current HP and MP and is stationary; attacks toward the decoy are not hindered by any innate defense modifiers, and Kortav's decoy will attack with his initial level 1 attack speed whenever there are enemies nearby, though it will not do damage. The decoy has a distinguishable pattern below it, visible by allies and enemies alike.
If Kortav's decoy is not destroyed within 2 seconds, it explodes and slows all nearby enemies by 30% for 3 seconds. The position of Kortav's decoy can be altered by pulls and draw forces, but not displacements.

Skill 2

Piercing Claw

Cost: 75/95/115/135 MP
Cooldown: 8/7/6/5 sec
Range: 5 m

Kortav focuses his deadly claws on his target's weak point, dealing 105/165/225/285 + [70% Physical Attack] damage.
Piercing Claw inflicts 3/4/5/6% of the target's max HP as bonus damage and heals Kortav for 20% of the total damage inflicted when he casts it behind his target.

Piercing Claw will benefit from Harvest if used from any other angle, but will not provide Harvest in additional to the heal when used from behind.

Skill 3

Rend & Tear

Cost: 100 MP
Cooldown: 15 sec
Range: 7 m

Kortav further rends his enemies' open wounds, leaving them bleeding heavily. Kortav applies a debuff on his target that causes it take a tick of 14/22/30/38 + [12% Physical Attack] damage for each meter the target moves within 8 seconds. A target that moves 7 or more meters is stunned for 1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds.
Immediate displacements without direct movement, such as blinks, will immediately deal damage in one tick equivalent to the product of the damage and distance traveled.

Skill 4

Cruel Intentions

Cost: 100/140/180 MP
Cooldown: 60/50/40 sec
Range: NA m

Passive: Kortav and his active decoys regenerate 1/2/3% + [4% Physical Attack] of his maximum HP every second while below 30% HP. Decoys will only benefit from the innate amount.
Active: Kortav slips into the shadows, becoming invisible for 2 seconds and leaving a decoy on the ground, possessing the same qualities as Predator's decoy. If the decoy is not destroyed within 5 seconds, it explodes, dealing 250/350/450 + [4% Physical Attack] and slowing all nearby enemies by 30% for 3 seconds. Kortav may reactivate Cruel Intentions again to teleport to his decoy, swapping places with it and causing it to explode immediately, inflicting the same damage and slow.

Kortav can swap places with his decoy regardless of the distance he is away from it.

Recommended Skills Levelling

This represents one of the common skill levelling sequence. This Kortav build harvests the power of Kortav mid-game; his Piercing Claw and Rend&Tear, and level them together.

Skill 3381011
Skill 46912

This represents another more unorthodox skill levelling sequence.  This leads to a more disruptive style of gameplay, high duration stun and gap closing/escape possibilities.

Tips & Strategies

  • Be wary of opponents who use Farseeing Tonic, it counters both Predator and Cruel Intentions.
  • Piercing Claw should be used straght after Predator to make use of the extra damage given when used from behind.  It can also be used if the enemy begins to retreat.
  • Building damage early game is key because players that understand Kortav will try not to move when you start attacking, this is because they know they will be stunned if they try and run.  Try to either use Rend & Tear as they begin to retreat or activate it and move away so they are forced to move.
  • Predator can be used on allies, so practice this with good teamates to easily escape battles.
  • Once Predator and Cruel Intentions are mastered, Kortav can be very strategic and bounce around to different locations, making him a very frustrating hero to try and chase down.
